ITINERARY

Day 1: Mandalay – Mogok (6 hours driving)
You will be picked up from the hotel by our tour representatives about 8:00 am in the morning. We will drive to Mogok and on the way, you can have lunch at local restaurant. Make a stop and break at Shwe Nyaung Bin station gate to see the local products, shops and food stalls. Arrive at the Kyatpyin at the west part of Mogok, you will visit to the gem market: locally called “Pan Ma Htar Pwe” near the Panma open-air market. You will see the scenic views of the town on the top of Daw Nan Kyi Taung and its pagoda with peaceful atmosphere. Then, you will have opportunity to see the over view of coffee plantation fields. Mogok is very colorful with different people like Shan-chinsese, Napalese, Palaung, Leshaw, Burmese and Lesu.

Day 3: Mogok sightseeing
After breakfast at hotel, visit to the gem market called “Manimingalar” near Mogok motel in there you can various beautiful gemstones with various sizes. Proceed visit to the biggest gemstones market called “Pan Chan Htar Pwe”; observe the precious colorful rubies and view of selling and buying. The big lake can be found significantly in the very centre of town. Afternoon sightseeing will be with a visit to gem painting workshop and gemstone (quartz) polishing center.

Then, we will drive uphill to Bar Nat Village for 20km far; visit to the small local market in the village. In this village, you might see the ethnic people’ culture, lives and tradition. Continue visit to private old British Solider Cemetery in where tombs of soldiers look old and non-renovation. And next visit to the olden armory in which arms and ammunitions were placed during the reign of British. Then, explore at the “Pan Lin Pyaung Kaung Sein” Mine which is producing the good quality peridot. On the way back, you will see the breathtaking views from the highest mountains road.

Day 4: Mogok – Mandalay
After breakfast at hotel, visit to the Nilar market which is interesting to see local products, fruits, vegetables and foods. Visit to the Kyauk Pya That Pagoda which is one of the most sublime religious monuments located on the top of rocky cliff. Then, drive down to Mandalay. You will arrive back to Mandalay in the late evening.

Mogok is believed to have been founded in 1217 by three lost hunters who discovered rubies at the base of a collapsed mountain. Mogok and other villages nearby have been famous since ancient times for its gemstones, especially rubies and sapphire, but semi-precious stones such as spinel, lapis lazuli, garnet, moonstone, peridot and chrysoberyl are also found.
